Weekly Focus

Week 49 is simulated set run 2. The goal is reliability gains based on the issues found in set run 1.

Success this week means transitions, cues, and endings are more stable than Week 48.

Repertoire & Chord Map

Primary anchor is Fly Me to the Moon, with Misty as second set pillar. Keep set structure fixed and only apply targeted fixes.

Core set skeleton:

Song 1: intro | form | ending transition cue Song 2: intro | form | ending

Daily map task: run corrected set flow and compare directly against Week 48 notes.

Supplementary Listening & Ear Training (Required)

Link this listening directly to this week’s theme “Simulated set run 2” so ear work supports your keyboard work.

Weekly listening pick:

  • Blue Train — John Coltrane

Why this track now: It highlights hard-bop blues language and dominant preparation, which matches Week 49’s goals.

Ear tasks (10–15 min, at least 3 sessions this week):

  1. Listen once without the instrument and name the key center by ear (major/minor/modal). Then verify the key at piano.
  2. Find one cadence or arrival point, then play: root + shell ii-V-I (or closest functional equivalent) in that key.
  3. Lift a short 4–8 bar fragment by ear, play it slowly, and record ~30s so you can compare your hearing vs. the recording.

Extra challenge (optional): transpose your lifted fragment to the weekly priority ladder when possible (F → Eb → G → Bb → C).

End-of-Week Reflection

Which set issues are now solved, and which still fail under pressure? Carry three lock decisions into Week 50.
